Personal Development

Personal Development Overview
LIB Working on you

Our Personal Development programme is a whole school experience. We strive to prepare students for their future careers as responsible citizens that are willing to make a positive contribution to society, with an appreciation of diversity, respect for the different protected characteristics and an understanding of the British Values.

They experience a robust PSHE and RSE curriculum, as well as a range of enrichment opportunities both within and outside of the taught curriculum, that develop our students spiritually, morally, socially and culturally, so they are able to keep themselves safe and care for both their mental and physical wellbeing.

At Liberty Academy, we firmly believe that ‘all things are possible for one who believes’ and our Personal Development programme makes a difference to who our students are and who they will become, by developing ‘Our Liberty Qualities’ so they become well-rounded citizens that can flourish in a forever changing society.

With this intent at the heart, our Personal Development programme is split into the following 4 key elements:

  • PSHE & British Values
  • Curriculum, SMSC & Liberty Qualities
  • Enrichment
  • Careers Education, Information and Guidance (CEIAG)

PSHE & British Values

The intent of our PSHE and RSE curriculum is to build students’ confidence, resilience and knowledge so that they can keep themselves mentally and physically healthy, as well as an age-appropriate understanding of healthy relationships through appropriate relationships and sex education.

At Liberty Academy, we are committed to anti- discriminatory practice, promoting equality of opportunity and valuing diversity for all. We promote students’ understanding of the British Values so they become well-rounded citizens that have a clear understanding that difference is a positive, not a negative, and that individual characteristics make people unique.

Through our faith and work, and by living out our Liberty Qualities, our whole community will flourish and become more fully the people God calls us to be. It is important to us that our vision and qualities are more than just words on a page. You will see them lived out by our students and staff in all aspects of school life and beyond.

Careers Education, Information and Guidance (CEIAG)

At Liberty Academy, we strive to ensure that all our students have access to quality CEIAG that raises the aspirations of each individual.

Students will experience a careers programme that develops the knowledge, skills and awareness needed for the world of work, so that they are able to make informed decisions about their future choices as they prepare for adulthood and their Post-16 transition into the workplace, further education or training.
